Moussa Maazou helps Monaco advance, again.

Since his arrival to Monaco during the winter transfer window, Moussa Maazou has been playing decent football. While not always being a starter, the young player from Niger does show a lot of promise.

But when it comes to French Cup games, Maazou is Monaco’s savior. In his first French Cup game, Maazou scored Monaco’s second goal, which helped The Principality defeat defending Ligue 1 champions Bordeaux 2-0. In their quarterfinal match, Maazou scored the winning goal in the 95th for Monaco, as they advanced past Sochaux 4-3.

And tonight, Maazou found the goal in extra time as Monaco find themselves to the final of the French Cup. Tomorrow, we will see if Monaco will play Paris St.-Germain or CFA2 side Quevilly (which PSG should win easily).

With a PSG win tomorrow, the winner of the cup final will qualify for the Europa League. And since both teams are pretty much out of the running to qualify for a European spot by their standing in the league, this is give one of the two storied clubs in French football a chance to make another breakthrough on the European scene. Assuming that PSG beats Quevilly, that is.

So, one team is now set, and we shall see who they play tomorrow. And, for the future of French soccer, it is best for PSG to win the match. Still, I am rooting for Quevilly.
