Ligue 1 Preseason: Charlie Davies plays, Nancy rolls!

Daniel Braaten signs autographs at Toulouse preseason match with Bayonne (tfc.info)

Ligue 1 teams continued their preseason play on Wednesday as Charlie Davies finally saw some action during a preseason game for Sochaux. Sochaux actually played in two preseason matches on Wednesday, where the club split their squad amongst the two matches.

Davies played against Swiss side Neuchâtel Xamax, where they played to a 0-0 draw. Sochaux ended up losing that match on penalties kicks 5 to 4. In Sochaux’s other match, they also drew 0-0 to Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa, but won in the end off of PKs 4 to 3. Here are the two Sochaux teams:

Against Neuchâtel : Cros – Sauget, Mikari, Faty, Josse – Perquis, Tulasne, Anin – Davies, Maurice-Belay, Gurle

Against Saprissa : Dreyer – Duplus, Tulasne, Josse, Peybernes – Carlao, Nogueira, Poujol – Sverkos, Martin, Butin

In other preseason matches, Toulouse pull off a win against Bayonne 1-0. Moussa Sissoko scored the game-winner in the 89th minute. Like most teams in the preseason, Toulouse played with a split squad. The only players of note that were missing were Yoann Pele (injured, against) and Andre-Pierre Gignac, who is still on World Cup “vacation”. Here are the Toulouse split squad:
Mi-temps 1 : Valverde – Gunino, Cetto, Fofana, Atassi – Devaux – Aguemon, Didot, Sirieix, Mansare – Pentecote

Mi-temps 2 : Ahamada – Perrier Doumbe, Congre, Nounkeu, Tabanou – Capoue – Braaten, Sissoko, Regattin, Luan – Soukouna

Nancy seems to be the only team with an impressive win so far in the preseason, beating up on Toul 4-0. New signing Marama Vahirua looked dangerous in the first 45 minutes of play, but was unable to net one of the four Nancy goals. And, like the other teams, a split squad was in play. Here are the squads for Nancy:

1st Half: Gregorini – Chrétien, N’Diaye, Loties, Lemaitre – Traoré, Berenguer, Chahechouhe, Malonga – Vahirua, Bakar

2nd Half : Bracigliano – Calvé, André Luiz, Sami, Brison – Gavanon, Diakité, Chahechouhe, Féret – Hadji, Alo’o Efoulou

Finally, OGC Nice drew against Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel 1-1. No more news on the match, but hopefully we will know the starting lineups shortly. There was nothing on Nice’s website.

  1. I have a couple player questions. Who are Gunino, Aguemon, Congress, Capua, and “off regions”?

  2. LOL, I press translate on the Google Toolbar because I was too lazy to write in 1st half time and 2nd half time lol. I will change those. Thanks Thomas!

  3. Neither team’s website lists Nice’s team, but Quansah scored their goal, allegedly off a long clearance from Ospina.
