Ligue 1 Talk Podcast for April 18th, 2011

After a long break, we finally have a podcast up. Dave Trotter and Justin Cheung discuss a number of issues. Of course, the race for the Ligue 1 title is discussed the longest in length. But also discussed were the past week’s games, as well as the upcoming French Cup semis and League Cup final.

So, sit back and enjoy. It is a little longer than we wanted, but hey, it has been a long time!

  1. What a great podcast. Please, please don’t stop. Magnificent job.

  2. Thanks Eskaia, it was fun. Too bad Nice and Angers couldn’t pull off the upsets in the Coupe de France.

  3. Noooo…I am actually starting to agree with the “plumbers shouldn’t have a chance to play in Europe” argument.

  4. Any predictions for tomorrow night’s match? I’m hoping for a lively match, but I hope the final score reads something like this:

    Marseille 3-1 Montpellier

    Allez l’OM !!! 😀

  5. Well it was an ugly win, but we won, all the same… It should have been at least 2-0. Gignac’s center to Valbuena was perfect.

In the second half, Gignac pulled off an amazing pass, from the far right side of the field to the left. Too bad his team-mate didn’t do anything with it.

Anyways, besides the sloppy first 20 minutes, OM looked pretty good and controlled the game. Mandanda took care of business and I’m happy that we came away the victors (and kept a clean sheet.)

The supporters were awesome. I normally hate the Stade de France. Last time I went (for the friendly France vs. Belarus) the ambiance was lousy, almost library-like.

This time, it was like a home game at the Stade Velodrome with some loud Montepellier supporters filling the visitors tribune. It was awesome !!! We rocked the Stade de France.

Gaby Heinze approached the southern stands to wave to all the supporters, and Gignac grabbed the trophy and climbed over the barricades to bring it closer to the fans. Taiwo, well… you know the story already. Deschamps smiling. Gerets in attendance. What an amazing evening in Saint-Denis (just north of Paris).

As far as Sunday goes, thank you Lorient for drawing against Lille. Free drinks for Kevin Gameiro any time he wants to stop by Le Vieux Port.

    The door is now open.

OM needs to win on Wednesday to go top.

    Allez l’OM !!! 😀
